Why I love Being an Insurance Agent!
No….I didn’t sit around DREAMING as a child of selling insurance one day….in fact, I wanted to be a teacher all the way up to my senior year of high school. I was given the task of shadowing my aunt in Houston, TX who at the time was a high school teacher/counselor. This task proved successful in two ways: one, I knew BEFORE college that teaching was definitely not for me and saved thousands of dollars in courses I’d later not be interested in, and two–I hoped that surely I could study and choose as a career SOMETHING that blended two things I love dearly, and was pretty good at: COMMUNICATING, and SIMPLIFYING RESEARCH.
Flash forward over twenty years…I’m specializing now in the area of Individual lines of Insurance…health, life, Medicare….and now putting pen to paper I realize what more PERFECT line of business could I possibly be doing OTHER than insurance?!
In a nutshell, what I love the most about insurance is people—now while MOST people in business say that, I actually mean that a good 50% of the time shared with my clients is actually investing in KNOWING them, their families, their interests, their travels. If I can’t share in this, it becomes all about the numbers and the coverage—and you can’t see that what I’m doing for YOU is what I’d do for my own family and closest friends—RESEARCHING to find better, more affordable, options and in a way that MAKES SENSE to you. Everyone googles now…you can find as much information online that you want, but is it condensed in a way that you are confident you’re not missing any important laws or legal aspects? Missing any out of the box options? I get to take research, condense it into tiny boxes of information and present that to you in ways that are CREATIVE…dare I say INTERESTING! Who thought insurance could be fun? I do. And if you leave feeling lighter…happier….more free, I’ve done my job.
