Keep the Easter Traditions Going!

easter-bunny-easter-rabbit-bunny-couple-69816Easter is coming, and for many Americans, that particular day may mean waking up to a very special basket laced with chocolates and jelly beans, followed by a celebration of the resurrection of our Lord to the neighborhood church, dressed in the fanciest of dresses, followed by a family dinner—perhaps a roast—and then after the food has settled and the adults can no longer put them off, the kiddos commence their day of hunting.  When I was a kid, the eggs sometimes contained money—quarters, dimes, nickels….but oh to find that one “golden” egg with the dollar bill!

As my oldest son was entering his teens, I’ll never forget one Easter morning and the utter disappointment on his face upon learning the “Easter bunny” was no longer hiding eggs for him to hunt, while his two younger siblings scurried through the house finding treasures.  Growing up is hard—we’re talking chocolates and candies and all sorts of treats—and just because one enters pre-adulthood doesn’t mean the “want” subsides!
